REQUIREMENTS TO ENROLL
AGE
From young puppies (pups as young as 3 months are accepted for training. These should be adequately protected/
vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, leptospirosis and parainfluenza)
to older dogs (as long as they're not sickly or too weak because of age – Manalo K9 has successfully trained dogs upto 8-years old).
BREED
Neither pedigree papers nor purebred blood is not an issue in enrollment. All dogs can be trained especially in Basic Obedience. Although some breeds are more suited for certain training courses, we’ve successfully trained mongrels,
crossbreds and purebreds in different courses, as long as they have what it takes to train.
See "DRIVES".
HEALTH
Only dogs
and puppies that are healthy are accepted to make sure they are fit to be trained, and to
protect the other dogs in the kennels. A quick physical health check and a health record check is usually performed before new trainees are accepted. It is also a requirement that dogs are up-to-date with their necessary vaccinations, wormers, or
preventives. These may also be updated upon request, always with the client's consent.
DRIVES
For detection,
protection, or tracking training, certain necessary drives in the
dog are sought before acceptance in these highly complicated programs. Evaluations may be performed (for free) prior to training, and clients are given an honest and direct assessment.
SEX
Males and females can
be trained in all the training courses offered. Female dogs are seen to have mood swings
when they have their semi-annual period, just like PMS in humans, (this is
dealt with on a case to case basis), and sometimes these would have to be taken off training or
work, especially if they get pregnant, and until a while after they stop nursing.
CONTRACT, PAYMENT and OFFICIAL RECEIPT
Clients fill up a
training agreement/ contract to enroll their dog in any of the courses. At least a 50% down-payment is required upon
acceptance of the dog, for which the client is issued an Official Receipt, in compliance
with laws under the Bureau of Internal Revenue of the Philippines. These
are legal measures to protect all parties involved.
