The Philippine Aso Project

The Philippine Aso Project is a noble endeavor started by Dr. Abel Manalo last August 29, 2011.  

It is the biggest effort ever done to establish, create, develop, promote and protect the Philippines' National Dog breed, which is being called the “Philippine Aso”.  The Aso will be positioned to be promoted as one of the Philippines’ National Treasures.  

The Aso is seen to fall under the Spitz and Primitive Dog Breed classification and will have at least 2 varieties, the "Typical", and the "Balbon" which has longer coat. 

From the landrace population now being accommodated, documented and registered, a breed standard will be set, and selective breeding protocols established. 

The Philippine Aso will be known throughout the world, and will be another source of Filipino pride.  The Aso shall have the honor, dignity and respect it so definitely deserves, having been the Filipinos’ heritage, companion, family member, and protector, since time immemorial.
