
Doc Abel is a graduate of the University of the Philippines, Los Banos (UPLB), with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2001. As a student, his main interest and focus of study was on canines. His thesis on dog ecology is widely used as a reference by the Philippines' Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI). He got his professional veterinarian license in the same year.
In 1998, while still in college, Doc Abel organized and founded the Laguna Canine Club, Inc. (LCCI). LCCI became an affiliate of the Philippine Canine Club, Inc. (PCCI), the country’s primary club/ registry for purebred dogs, which is affiliated with the Federation Cynologique International (FCI), the Kennel Club of the UK, the American Kennel Club, and the Asian Kennel Union (AKU). Dr. Manalo has been breeding, training and showing dogs since 1998, and is a licensed conformation ring steward in PCCI-sanctioned competitions/ dog shows. This is where he fine-tuned his learning on the importance of structure, soundness and movement in dogs in relation to their overall performance and utility capacity.
In 2003, Doc Abel started to seriously study the science and art of dog psychology and training with canine trainers from various dog training disciplines, such as sport, personal protection, and police/military dog training. His In July 31, 2007 started a dog training business at Angono Rizal, which later became known as MANALO K9, and has been featured in different magazine articles, national TV and radio shows.
In 2008, MANALO K9 was joined into by a group of professional K9 trainers who have trained various police and military K9 teams, and thus MANALO K9 also entered the K9 services business. Doc Abel was awarded a license by the Philippine National Police Civil Security Group – Security Agencies and Guards Supervision Division (PNP CSG SAGSD) as “K9 ADMINISTRATOR” with license number NCR20090234527. He attended training seminars with the Explosive Ordnance Association of the Philippines (EODAPI) and became a member of the organization. In 2009, Doc Abel was honored by the Philippine National Police – CALABARZON, and was awarded for MANALO K9’s participation and assistance in various PNP operations utilizing MANALO K9 Teams.
He was also honored to become a consultant and K9 evaluator for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) - J3. Doc Abel and J3 personnel under MGEN Carlos Holganza and Lt. Dennis Martinez organized the 1st AFP K9 Competition in July 2009 - the biggest, most organized, and grandest competition of its’ kind in the country as of date. He also served as the Master Evaluator/ Judge.
Doc Abel was invited to attend the Executive Course on National Security (ECNS Batch 15) conducted by the Defense Management Institute – National Defense College of the Philippines (DMI-NDCP) at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City, which he proudly completed. He also became a participant in the very first Executive Conference on National Security last May 2010, also organized by the DMI-NDCP.
He is also active in meetings of the Philippine Institute of Peace, Violence and Terrorism Research (PIPVTR). He was one of the participants in the recent International Forum on Asia-Pacific Security hosted by: the PIPVTR, the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA, USA), The Council for Asian Transnational Threat Research (CATR, International), and the Asia Pacific Security Forum (APSF).
Doc Abel is also a sought-after speaker and has been conducting seminars with different security organizations, the academe in universities, and also the general public, about the various aspects of work with canines.

Buck is the CEO of Vigilant Canine Services International, and has over twenty-three years experience as a canine handler, trainer, canine unit commander and is a P.O.S.T. certified canine evaluator, certified by the State of California.
Buck is a retired law enforcement professional, retiring from civil service in 2002. Buck has developed canine units for police agencies and has served as a canine consultant for the Northern California League of Cities. Buck has served as the trainer-of-record for police agencies throughout California and he supervised numerous police dog teams in his career. Buck has conducted yearly canine evaluations for over 100 police service dogs. He also served over four years in the United States Marine Corps as a machine gunner and as an aviation ordnance technician. Internationally, Buck has managed and trained over 100 dog teams in his career. This includes assisting in large mobilization/de-mobilization operations. As an instructor, Buck developed numerous canine training courses throughout California and internationally.
Buck is on staff with Central Texas
College and in his spare time, while deployed overseas, Buck offers law
enforcement courses for military personnel, through the Military Education
Center. Buck also has experience as an
instructor/facilitator, teaching law enforcement courses at a Bachelors degree
level for the
